Started photography in 1965, joined The Statesman Newspaper as Chief Photographer 1966 - 1976, Picture Editor with Sunday, Calcutta 1977 - 1980.
Participations & Awards: He held several one man show in different countries like Bunkamura Museum, Tokyo 2001, Kendamy Museum, Italy 2002, Museo De Capitolini, Rome 2004. He has exhibited his works in London, Paris, New York, Hamburg, Pargue, Bunkamura Museum in Tokyo, Zurick and Sydney. His work has been exhibited in many prestigious gallery like Museo di Storia Naturale - Milan, Galery Caolmin - Switzerland, Centro Cultural Recoleta - Agentina, Centro Universitario Belas Artes - Sao Paulo, Leika Galllery - Prague Art Car Museum - Texas (Houston), Australian Museum, College St, Sydney, Fait et Cause Gallery - Paris. In 1971, he was nominated to Magnum Photos, by the legendary photographe Henri Cartier Bresson. He was awarded the "Padmashree" in 1971, "Photographer of the Year" 1992 in the United State for the story "Human Management of Wildlife in India" published in National Geographic.
