Art Elements Gallery presents 'Reflections', an exhibition of paintings, drawings, sculptures and functional art by 12 eminent Hyderabad artists. The exhibition that continues till January 13 showcases about 60 works from highly acclaimed as well as the emerging artists. Some of the participating artists are Thota Vaikuntam, Bairu Raghuram, Anjani Reddy, Laxman Aelay, Om Soorya and Vimala Maroju. The exhibition attempts to project diverse works of art from Hyderabad. Nemirah shetty, curator of Art Elements says, "The exhibition does not have a particular theme. It is a collection of different works. The only similarity is Hyderabad. All the artists live and work in Hyderabad and the paintings show the culture of the city or rather the changing society from traditional to modernity." Shanti Dave, an eminent painter who inaugurated the exhibition, "All these artists have tremendous potential. Art is not appreciated in Hyderabad as we do it here though things are changing now. So it is a great platform to get recognition of their work." My Women--Present all the inaugural event was Bairu Raghuram and Laxman Aelay. Raghuram's paintings portray women in rural areas. He portrays women of his city in traditional costumers, against its cultural backdrop. He says it is his way of showing the way of life in the rural areas of the region. And in Aelay's paintings called 'Yaai' and 'Malli' he tries to showcase the traditions of the Telangana region through the paintings of women of the place. Most of the paintings portray women in various moods and dresses to depict the culture and the changing society of the region. Besides, one can also see sculptures by Ramana Reddy and collage by Sreekanth Kurva. Kurva's works include interesting collages of bulls and goats in different colours and shades.
